Topic: Informative Practices Addressing Trauma-Related Disorders in Occupational Therapy
Come join us for our quarterly district meeting to network with your colleagues and learn about trauma-informed practice. This presentation provides an overview of trauma-related disorders and current intervention techniques to utilize within occupational therapy practice. Practitioners will gain an understanding of ongoing occupational therapy initiatives to reduce the negative impact of trauma on occupational performance as well as supportive treatment approaches through emerging models.
After this presentation, participants will be able to: *Demonstrate a general understanding of trauma and resulting diagnoses such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) *Articulate 3-4 Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) techniques for use with those who are trauma survivors *Demonstrate an understanding of an occupational therapists’ role in treating clients who have experienced trauma and identify future efforts in the field of OT
