Michelle Roth, COTA/L, is an occupational therapy practitioner and OTD student with a strong foundation in person-centered care, mentorship, and learner-focused education. Her doctoral work centers on developing accessible, scenario-based CEU content to support fieldwork educators and strengthen mentorship culture within the OT profession. Michelle's professional growth reflects her commitment to advocacy, collaboration, and empowering practitioners through practical, evidence-informed learning experiences.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and analyze personal and professional barriers that may impact the effectiveness of mentorship relationships in fieldwork education.
- Apply evidence-based and expert-informed mentorship strategies to real-world occupational therapy fieldwork scenarios.
- Demonstrate and integrate the four-core clinical mentorship skill sets within occupational therapy fieldwork supervision and education.
- Establish and sustain a psychologically safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental learning environment that supports professional growth and competence development.
Course Description:
Being a Mentorship Driven Fieldwork Educator is a practical CEU designed to strengthen the relational and instructional skills essential for effective fieldwork teaching. This course highlights how mentorship shapes professional identity, supports psychological safety, and guides students through real-world clinical reasoning. Through scenario-based examples and evidence-informed strategies, participants learn how to deliver meaningful feedback, navigate challenges with confidence, and create supportive learning environments that help both students and practitioners grow.
