About this course: QPR is a suicide prevention training that will equip the everyday person with the knowledge of Signs of depression, How to ask someone if they are having thoughts of suicide, How to persuade an individual to seek help, and How to refer someone to resources available. You will learn what a Safety Plan looks like and how to create one.Two hours of suicide prevention are required for licensure in TN beginning in January 2020. This course will not be recorded due to the sensitive nature of the topic of suicide and cameras must be turned on for the entire course.

This course satisfies the requirement for 2 hours of suicide prevention training required every four years (i.e. every 2 renewal cycles). TNOTA offers QPR courses 4-5 times per year. Registration will be capped at 35 participants.

After the course, learners will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of occupational therapy's role in suicide prevention.
  2. Articulate the basic tenets of QPR (question, persuade, refer) method.

CEU Opportunity: 2 CEU hours, FREE for TNOTA members, $40 for non-members
