TNOTA Workshop: Orthotics Made Easy 

This hands on course will give the attendees an opportunity to fabricate eight orthotics (one per hour). The orthotics will include the most commonly used by therapists in a variety of settings. While the appropriate use of each orthotic will be reviewed, the focus of this course will be orthotic fabrication.

Objectives:

• The participants will fabricate eight orthotics 
• The participants will identify at least one applicable diagnosis per orthotic 
• The participants will discuss contraindications and precautions 
• The participants will identify the characteristics of materials and choose the appropriate material for each orthotic

8-8:15-Review of orthotic principles and materials

8:15-9:00- Short opponens

9-10-Wrist cock-up

10-11-Resting hand or St John dorsal blocking

11-12- Radial nerve palsy

12:-1- lunch and open lab

1-2-mallet, boutonnière, trigger finger and silver ring

2-3- Boxer’s fracture

3-4- Thumb spica

4-4:45- Anti-claw/relative motion
