Course description: This course introduces occupational therapy practitioners to the foundational concepts of pelvic floor function and its relevance across multiple practice settings. Participants will explore the occupational impact of pelvic floor dysfunction, learn screening and intervention strategies appropriate within OT scope, and gain confidence in addressing sensitive topics like incontinence, pelvic pain, and toileting with clients. Designed for OTs and OTAs in all settings, this course equips attendees with practical tools to integrate pelvic health awareness into everyday practice—empowering therapists to restore dignity, function, and participation for their clients.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the role of the pelvic floor in occupational performance and daily activities.
  2. Identify key signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction that are relevant for screening and referral.
  3. Apply at least three evidence-based, non-internal OT interventions to support pelvic floor health across various settings.
  4. Recognize the psychosocial and functional impacts of pelvic health conditions on participation and quality of life.
  5. Advocate for the inclusion of pelvic health principles within traditional and emerging OT practice areas
