Brief Description:

Dr. Lewis-Kipkulei recently traveled to Bangkok, Thailand 2/09-2/12 to attend the 19th World Foundation of Occupational Therapy Congress. She will provide key information disseminated to attendees, breakout sessions they attended, and a larger vision for OT from a global perspective. Specifically, how these goals from a global perspective apply to the West TN district of OTs.

 

Speaker: Dr. Pamela Lewis-Kipkulei, PhD, OTD, OTR/L

Pamela Lewis-Kipkulei, PhD, OTD, OTR/L, is an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She has been an occupational therapist for over 30 years and has been in academia for the past decade. She received a BSOT from Washington University in St. Louis, an MSE from Harding University, a post-professional OTD from Chatham University, and a PhD from Walden University. She currently teaches Evidence-Based Practice courses and serves as the Capstone Coordinator for UTHSC’s Occupational Therapy Doctoral program. Her research interests include advocacy, inclusive teaching and learning, occupational therapy interventions and best practices, student engagement, and student participation in the learning process.

 

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will complete the following during this session:

  1. Participants will be able to identify 2 factors impacting healthcare access.
  2. Participants will be able to recognize 2 goals related to the vision for OT over next 4 years (until next Congress).
  3. Participants will be able to better identify role of OT in various settings.
  4. Participants will be able to identify outcome goals shared by the OT global community.
