Seating is limited to 60 participants!About the Presentation: This suicide prevention training will equip occupational therapy practitioners to be able to recognize signs of suicidality, talk about suicidal ideation, and provide resources as needed. Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, the course is limited to 60 participants.
Course Objectives:
- Identify warning signs of suicide
- Ask a person if they are having thoughts of suicide
- Describe strategies to support a person's safety
- Explain how to refer a person to resources.
Lauren Woods, PhD, OTR/L, is an Associate Professor and Admission Chair at UTHSC, where she is instrumental in selecting and mentoring future OT leaders. Beyond the classroom, she actively shapes the profession as a journal reviewer, a board member for Merge Memphis, and a dedicated member of the TNOTA Mentorship Committee. Dr. Woods is a passionate advocate for mental health and community engagement, whose unique perspective bridges academic rigor with real-world practice.
