About the Co-Presenters: Gwen Foxx currently works as an Assistant Professor/Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, TN where she has worked in her role for 2 ½ years. Gwen worked previously in the Shelby County Schools for 17 years as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant with the last 5 years as an Assistive Technology Consultant and then transition into the academia. She is Co-chair for Communication and Vice Chair Rural West Tennessee Occupational Therapy Association. Barbara Meussner currently works as the Special Programs Manager for Therapy and Learning Center managing the Reinbow Riding Academy and Adult Therapy Services where she has been for 10 years. Previously, CEO and Executive Director; Easter Seals Gulf Coast Regional Office, Fort Myers Florida. Owned private practice in Cape Coral Florida serving over 500 clients. Managed certified behavioral therapists, early intervention teachers, and certified mental health and massage therapists. Barb is currently Rural West Chair for TNOTA. Topic: “Celebrating OT Month" Understanding ‘What’s UP?’ in the field of OT” After this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Understand continued competence requirements for Tennessee. 2. Understand new laws of special interest to OT 3. Understand how the national epidemic of behavioral health issues effect OT’s 4. Understand how OT’s can support the National Occupational Therapy Training Center for Mental Health We are delighted to have refreshments provided by Anderson Brace and Limb, Jackson TN from 5:30-6. If organizations have OT openings they are welcome to network / professionally recruit at that time as well.
