Topic: Homonymous Hemianopsia (HH): Helpful Tips for Effective Assessment and Treatment

Join us virtually during our quarterly meeting to network with your colleagues and learn about assessment and treatment of homonymous hemianopsia.

Presenter: Julia Jones, MS, OTR/L Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Julia has been an Occupational Therapy Practitioner for 18 years working in acute care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for the last 15 years. Julia specializes in providing occupational therapy services to critical care patients mainly on the neurosciences ICU. Julia has 3 degrees in occupational therapy beginning her career as a COTA then continuing to earn her Bachelors of Science from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004. Most recently, Julia earned her Post-Professional Master’s of Science with Specialization in Low Vision Rehabilitation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011. Julia has also spoken at the annual TNOTA conference and International Stroke Symposium. She has also been a guest lecturer and given multiple poster presentations throughout her career. In her free time, Julia can be found doing crafts, working out, or spending time outdoors with her husband, Brad, and 2 daughters, Hadlie and Lanie.

Objectives:

● Provide learners with latest research regarding homonymous hemianopsia
● Discuss homonymous hemianopsia
● Provide evidence on most effective assessment tools for HH

● Discuss treatment methods to maximize a client’s occupational performance
