About This Course: This course will discuss the role that occupational therapy practitioners in various settings play in helping a patient begin, return to, or retire from driving. After a brief overview of driving rehabilitation, various types of adaptive equipment for driving will be reviewed. The course will conclude with treatment approaches to assist a patient to be successful in learning to or returning to driving.

Course Objectives:

  1. Define driving rehabilitation
  2. Identify appropriate patients for driving rehab
  3. Identify when in the rehab process to refer a patient
  4. Define adaptive equipment for driving
  5. Identify treatments for patients pre/post driving rehab
