About this Presentation: This presentation will provide information on preparing for the NBCOT national certification examination, as well as the examination application process and the benefits of certification. The mission of NBCOT is to serve the public interest by advancing client care and professional practice through evidence-based certification standards and the validation of knowledge essential for effective practice in occupational therapy.  NBCOT demonstrates these practices by developing, administering, and continually reviewing the certification process based on current and valid standards that provide reliable indicators of competence of the practice of occupational therapy.

 Objectives:

  • Understand the national certification examination application process
  • Learn about exam preparation strategies and the NBCOT Aspire® Study Tools and StudyPack™
  • Increase awareness of NBCOT and the importance of continuing competency

Presenter: Barbara Williams, DrOT, MS, OTR, Associate Director, External and Regulatory Affairs, National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT®), is a certified occupational therapist who currently serves as the Associate Director, in the External and Regulatory Affairs Department for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT®) where she has worked for over 8 years. In this capacity, she is responsible for activities related to state regulation, international regulatory services, and community outreach. Previous to employment with NBCOT, Barbara worked in academia and served as Chair and Program Director an Occupational Therapy Program.
