About the Speaker: Amanda Newbern, MOT, OTR/L, first entered the practice of occupational therapy in 2005 when she graduated from Nashville State Community College as an OTA.  Upon fulfilling her service obligation as an intelligence analyst in the US Army, Amanda pursued her advanced degree and graduated from Belmont University’s MSOT bridge program in 2011.  Amanda has dedicated her OT career to geriatrics and has worked for NHC for the last 13 years.  In her tenure with NHC, Amanda has served as a clinical instructor, helped develop a 2-day company-wide training course, and developed several wellness programs for patients with chronic conditions.  Amanda is the current chair of Tennessee Occupational Therapy Licensure Board, served as the scholarship committee co-chair for two years, and is the current President of the fledgling 501c3 organization, the Tennessee Occupational Therapy Foundation.  Serving her local community and the field of occupational therapy through various boards has inspired Amanda to again further her education.  She is currently pursuing her doctorate in public administration and hopes to bring new research to the field regarding public healthcare policy and administration.
